River Shrimp – Premium Livefood for Aquatic Predators
River Shrimp are a highly nutritious and stimulating livefood option ideal for larger predatory fish and aquatic reptiles. As a naturally estuarine (brackish‑water) species, they are readily enjoyed by a wide range of freshwater and marine animals. This makes them a versatile choice for mixed collections or specialist feeders.
These lively shrimp are especially favoured by species such as pufferfish, groupers, lionfish, large cichlids, turtles, and many other robust aquatic predators. Their active swimming behaviour encourages natural hunting responses, providing both enrichment and a valuable dietary boost.
Care & Storage Before Feeding
To keep River Shrimp in good condition prior to feeding:
- House them in a container of cold water mixed with 10–15 g of sea salt per litre to replicate their brackish environment.
- Acclimatise slowly by gradually mixing their transport water with the prepared water over a couple of hours.
- Offer an algae‑based diet to maintain their nutritional value.
Each bag contains approximately 8 shrimp, though numbers may vary slightly due to natural size differences.
