There are more than 45,000 species of spiders throughout the world. In the U.K. alone, there are 650 species of spiders on record. Spiders (arachnids) are one of the most diverse species of animal on the planet. These animals are true predators, feeding exclusively on other organisms.

Here at Evolution Reptiles we focus on invertebrates that can be maintained successfully in captivity, with species suitable for beginners and the more intermediate and advanced hobbyist.

Tarantulas | Jumping Spiders | Huntsman Spiders | Whip Scorpions

If you are a beginner to tarantula keeping we can help you choose the right species to start with; Mexican Red Knee, curly hair, Chaco golden knee are just a few that will help you begin your journey into the wider world of spider keeping.

Suitable for beginner and experienced keeper alike, Jumping Spiders are growing in popularity, and it is easy to see why when you encounter these charming little creatures for the first time. Another interesting choice for the intermediate to advanced keeper are the Huntsman Spiders – although harmless, they are large and astonishingly fast, so not for the faint hearted!

Simple to keep but with an intimidating aspect are the Whip Scorpions and Vinegaroons. Long legs and weird shaped pincers make these harmless animals look terrifying.

If you are interested in any of these fascinating species, please speak to one of our team members who will advise you on the best way to keep them to a high welfare standard.

For more information please check out our care hub, with an extensive range of care sheets.
