Description

The Gooty Sapphire Tarantula, or P.metallica, is one of the most vibrant species in the hobby leading them to quickly grow in popularity among keepers and breeders, but their popularity makes them fairly difficult to get hold of. They are characterised by their deep blue colouration with bright yellow bands on the legs. They are an old world arboreal species from the Poecilotheria family so they have quite the temper and are not to be messed with. This is why we recommend this species for more experienced keepers only. Being arboreal they will need a tall, spacious enclosure with good cross ventilation. They’ll also need a few upright hides to web around and a suitable substrate to help hold in humidity. Like most tarantula species, we recommend feeding bugs once a week and misting the enclosure at the same time. The spider will get most of its water from its diet of live insects like crickets, locust and worms, but it is good to offer a water bowl in the enclosure in case it needs it.
