Description

Curly hairs are known for their toughness and general good nature making them a popular choice for first time tarantula keepers. They are an extremely slow growing species but the benefit of this is that they are very long lived; 25 to 30 years is possible for females, although males will rarely go beyond 10. This species likes to burrow so it is extra important to provide them with a deep substrate and some hides, such as cork bark, to help them get started. The Curly Hair has a diet similar to most other tarantula species, feeding off live insects such as crickets, locust or roaches for adults and fruit flies for smaller spiderlings.
