XL black crickets (Gryllus bimaculatus) are a robust, nutritious live food, widely used by reptile and amphibian keepers. With their firm bodies and strong feeding response, they are an excellent choice for a wide range of insectivorous animals.
Available in multiple sizes, from micro (approx. 2–3 mm) up to XL (approx. 30 mm), they are suitable for everything from small invertebrates to larger reptiles.
These crickets are a popular staple food for frogs, geckos, bearded dragons, spiders and many other invertebrates.
How Your Crickets Arrive
Smaller pre‑packed tubs are supplied in ventilated containers, complete with egg carton to maximise surface area and a small amount of bug grub.
Larger packs (500 & 1000) are supplied in breathable woven plastic sacks, also containing egg carton and bug grub to ensure the crickets arrive in good condition.
Care & Gut Loading Advice
For best results, transfer your crickets into a well‑ventilated container such as a livefood care kit.
- Feed with a quality insect food
- Supplement with fresh vegetables such as raw carrot
- Maintain temperatures between 20 °C and 25 °C
- Provide plenty of hiding spaces to reduce stress and cannibalism
Proper gut loading significantly improves the nutritional value of the crickets before feeding.
