These animals originate in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and north-west India in the dry, rocky grasslands and desert areas found in this part of the world. They spend the hottest part of the day hiding under rocks, and emerge at dawn and dusk to bask, feed, and interact with others.
Either a wooden or glass vivarium is ideal for Rainwater geckos, however, we recommend a glass vivarium as they can be used for a bio-active setup (allows you to keep live bugs and plants in the vivarium).
Food & Water
Geckos eat a wide range of insects. We usually recommend that pet owners should feed Geckos either crickets or locusts which are to be used as their main food, these are lower in fat than wax worms and are easier to digest than mealworms. You should only feed geckos insects that are half the width of their head.
You will need to supply your gecko with fresh water in a shallow bowl on a daily basis. This will also allow the geckos and crickets to climb out of the bowl.
