UV Lighting

UV lighting is very important for reptiles as it helps with the formation of Vitamin D3. Without Vitamin D3, calcium cannot be used correctly in the body, and the development of the skeleton will be affected.
Tortoises, turtles and lizards rely heavily on UV lighting, so lights of 5% UVB or more are required. For these animals the Zoo Med Repti Sun 10.00 (UVB output 10%) is recommended.
Snakes, geckos and amphibians have lower UV requirements. For these animals the Arcadia Natural Sun Lamp is recommended which has a UVB output of 2%.
